Cordyceps Benefits Your Get Up And Go

by admin - Lewis LoRizzo on April 26, 2010

Do you need to get through your day with extra energy? This is the number one reason Cordyceps benefits my lifestyle.

Cordyceps is a kind of fungus that I take in the form of capsules. I rely a lot on supplements (probably take more than twenty different kinds of vitamins, herbs and “super foods”) and how I pick each one is that they either need to give you a noticeable result within a week or because there is enough convincing research to tell me that it will keep you healthy in the medium to long term. Sure there is a stack of research on Cordyceps but I have been taking it the last three years or so for just one reason alone… to give me energy to make it through a two hour power walk with my dog or a two hour surf session on my board.

What used to happen…

was that I would go for a two hour surf and after the first hour I would notice a slight slowing down, and getting towards two hours you would notice a definite slump so you knew that, yep, its time to get out of the water. There’s nothing wrong with that… not many people surf for a couple of hours anyway.

You see, the fact is that I pop three capsules of Cordyceps a few minutes before I start exercising… and this seems to give a real stamina boost… no rush of energy or anything like that but what happens is that after two hours I don’t feel much different, fatigue wise, than I did before I started… I feel great.

The thing is…

I don’t exercise for longer because I just don’t have the time.

Now cordyceps is what’s known as an adaptogen. There are other adaptogens like Panax ginseng, Rhodiola rosea, Withania somnifera, Siberian Ginseng etc etc out there and maybe I have tried them all. Its not to say the others didn’t work… its just that the Cordyceps benefits were clearly stronger and more noticeable.

I didn’t care about the other Cordyceps benefits

Sure they are great but it was the energy I was looking for and if you do try it then you will know the first few times whether this is for you.

So what else does it do?

Well, reports speak of a hypoglycemic effect and that it may be beneficial for people with insulin resistance. It also reduces anxiety and soothes the nervous system and some have had success with fighting against cough, chronic bronchitis and asthma. I can’t speak personally about those but some people may be using Cordyceps to treat such conditions.

Cheers,

Lewis

Thanks so much Lewis for this informative post. I have been supplementing Cordyceps with Chaga and Reishi in my organic coffee for a few months now and I have seen a nice boost in my mood, my productivity and libido. Thanks again and keep these great posts coming. – Beau

That’s an interesting “stack”. I take Cordyceps with coffee as well but now you have got me thinking about the Chaga and Reishi.

Thanks Beau for giving me a new combo to experiment with.
